Bible passage
Matthew 18
As I went through the Sunday School lesson today, I realized that Pastors aren’t immune to Satan or to life situations (which I have always known.) When Peter asked Christ in Matthew 18 “how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus replies in verse 22 “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”
Jesus didn’t mean to count the times a person has sinned against. For one thing, you probably would focus on the count then the true nature of forgiveness. The intent here is that YOU forgive (period) not only for 1 sin against you but for ALL sins against you.
Is verse 35 it states, “This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart.” After telling Peter about the servant who was forgiven by the King, he in turn, demanded a fellow servant what was owed to him. He had a harden heart and did not forgive him or the debt. In fact, he “choked him and had he put in jail”.
The thought of the day is “forgive from the heart”.
